About Tung Education Resources
Tung Education Resources was founded by Dr. Fawzia Mai Tung in 2008. Our mission is to provide educational resources to educators and students for an optimal 21st education, either free or at a competitive and affordable price.
True education is individualized. Every child is different: s/he learns differently at different rates, and is interested in learning different things.
You will find here resources pointing you to programs and materials already available, as well as instructional materials produced and tested by TER.
Dr. Tung has also written and spoken extensively about education. You will find here many of her published articles. TER also hopes to ignite and promote a healthy exchange of ideas on education on the bulletin board and blog page.
Dr. Fawzia M Tung, Founder
Dr. Fawzia Mai Tung is a retired psychiatrist and journalist who discovered a passion for education when she married and became pregnant with her first child. This led to a long and exhilarating journey that took her to further qualifications in education and about 30 years as a tutor, teacher, homeschooling mother, principal, charter school holder, private school founder, and education consultant. Now a mother of seven and grandmother of seven, she is best known for her work in integrating mental abacus and Singapore Math; character education; developing a highly effective method for teaching English grammar; and developing a method for fast acquisition of a foreign language (moving from beginner to intermediate level).
Dr. Tung uses her scientific training to approach the processes of learning and teaching. Thus, for every subject and level, she continuously strives to improve the student's experience by searching for curricula and methodologies as ancient as the Chinese abacus (over 2,000 years old), as new as the cutting-edge Spaced Learning, as far as Singapore (Singapore Math) and as close as Phoenix, AZ (Spalding Method) where she resides. Where no satisfactory method was found, she would develop one.
Dr. Tung believes that all children can learn, faster, more and better than the current school model leads us to believe.
